Biography

Manolo Ty lived and worked in Bangkok, Cologne and Budapest and is currently based in Berlin. The photographer has travelled to more than one hundred countries. With his camera, Ty captured life on the ground, documenting the relationship between humans and their environment. He wants to promote intercultural understanding and raises awareness of threats to the environment and cultural traditions. His works have been shown in more than 80 international exhibitions and have been published in several illustrated books. He received considerable national and international attention for his new take on Pakistan in his first coffee table book, "Pakistan Now".

Ty also made the documentary "Gender X" about transgender women in Pakistan for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The award-winning film was screened at international film festivals.

Additional to his visual storytelling, Ty works as author and speaker.
